DID YOU KNOW?
• City Council passed legislation requiring one, two and three family dwelling units, non-owner occupied, being used for rental purposes to secure annual licenses from July 1 to June 30 annually. The fee is $100 per rental dwelling unit, starting July 1, 2009; however, application and payment are due by June 15, 2009. SIGNS:
Our city has a sign ordinance that regulates the location, type, and size of signs within our city. An approval from the Planning and Design Commission and a permit from the Building Department must be obtained before any sign can be erected. (Codified Ordinance [C.O.] Section 1145) Please contact the Building Department before installing any signage to find out what specific regulations apply.
BUILDING PERMITS:
A Building Permit must be obtained at the Building Department before excavation, grading, construction, alteration, repair, moving or demolition of a dwelling, accessory structure, or a commercial building begins. The Ohio Building Code (OBC) regulates procedures for commercial construction. The Residential Code of Ohio (RCO) regulates procedures for residential construction. Please call with any questions.
Separate permits must be obtained for electrical work, plumbing work, heating and air conditioning. The permit allows the required inspections for the owner’s assurance that all work is done properly and according to all applicable codes.
