The Director of Law is the head of the Law Department and represents the City in all court proceedings or before any administrative body. The Law Director serves as legal counsel to the Mayor, the Council, the administrative offices and departments, and the commissions and boards of the City. The Law Department also employs two other attorneys to serve as Assistant Law Director Boards & Commissions and Assistant Law Director Prosecutor. The Assistant Law Director Boards & Commissions attends all meetings of the Planning & Design Commission and the Board of Zoning & Appeals giving legal advice and opinions when necessary. The Assistant Law Director Prosecutor serves in the capacity of police prosecutor and represents the City as the prosecutor of all traffic and criminal cases in before the Rocky River Municipal Court. Both Assistant Law Directors serve under the Law Director and shall represent the City in any case that is assigned to them.
