america_bloom_300This summer, Fairview Park will participate in the 2015 America in Bloom national awards program. A team of judges will visit Fairview Park on July 23 and evaluate our community on a number of criteria related to civic beautification, sustainability, and community involvement. In addition to competing for awards, the judges’ feedback will be used to develop a civic beautification strategy.

The Fairview Park America in Bloom Steering Committee is working hard to prepare for the judges’ visit in July, but we need your help!

Community organizations will be hosting various volunteer opportunities over the next few months to spruce up our community. First are the Green Team’s Freshen Up Fairview Park tree planting event on April 11 and the first ever Plant Fairview event on May 30. More information on the latter event, a collaboration of the City and Fairview Park Garden Club, will be available soon.

You can also become a part of the America in Bloom Steering Committee by contacting Mary Benko of the Garden Club at marybenko@hotmail.com.

Our participation in America in Bloom was made possible by donations from the Fairview Park Community Council, Fairview Park Garden Club, and Fairview Park Chamber of Commerce.
